An Inspiring Dialogue on Volunteerism Featuring the First Emirati Female Volunteer
The College of Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences, in collaboration with the Red Crescent Volunteer Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs – Abu Dhabi Campus, organized an engaging dialogue session titled “Volunteer Work from a Humanitarian Perspective”, in celebration of the International Volunteer Day. The event aimed to highlight the human value of volunteerism and promote a culture of giving and social responsibility among university students.
The session hosted Ms. Fathiya Al-Nadhari, the first Emirati female volunteer and one of the pioneers in humanitarian and volunteer work in the UAE. She shared with students a series of inspiring experiences from her long journey in volunteerism, emphasizing the importance of serving the community and upholding the values of compassion, cooperation, and national belonging.
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Nahla Al-Shalabi from Al Ain University, who presented rich discussion points focusing on the concept of volunteerism and its impact on shaping individuals’ personalities and enhancing social cohesion.
The session witnessed strong student engagement, as participants expressed great interest in the guest’s experiences and raised questions about ways to join volunteer initiatives and develop their skills in this field, adding a highly interactive and enriching dimension to the event.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Hanan Al-Lihyani, Associate Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Noha Hamada, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, honored Ms. Fathiya Al-Nadhari and Dr. Nahla Al-Shalabi in appreciation of their valuable contributions and role in the success of the event.
