Initiatives to empower women in the occasion of the International Women's Day
On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Deanship of Student Affairs in cooperation with the College of Education, Humanities & Social Sciences and the General Women's Union, organized a virtual seminar on Empowering Woman in the UAE, presented by, Fatema Al Mehrzi-Human Resources Manager, and Mariam Al Mentheri- Director of the Women's Support Office.
The seminar dealt with the efforts of the UAE in the field of empowering women since the establishment of the federation, and the support given by the wise leadership in this field since the era of the founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, and the efforts of the mother of the Emirates, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, may God protect her, who is considered as a pioneer of women's work, and supportive of women's rights.
Also, the seminar clarified the mechanism for establishing institutions and organizations concerned with women's issues, such as: The General Women's Union and Gender Balance Council, in addition to developing national strategies concerned with women. And the most important achievements and gains of Emirati women, who have proven their leadership in various sectors. Also, reviewed a set of projects and initiatives of the General Women's Union, such as: The National Strategy for the Empowerment and Entrepreneurship of Emirati Women, and the Encyclopedia of Emirati Women
