Khaled Al Suwaidi speaks at Al Ain University about his journey from Abu Dhabi to Mecca
HE Dr. Khaled Al Suwaidi, Executive Director at The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) has been hosted by Al Ain University to talk about his journey from Abu Dhabi to Mecca by running for 29 days. The session was attended by Dr. Noor El Deen Atatreh, AAU Chancellor, Dr. Amer Qasem, AAU Vice President, Deputy deans, academic and administrative staffs and AAU students.
Al Suwaidi talked about his journey which started from the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi until his arrival in Makkah and performing Umrah, for a distance of 2070 kilometers between running and walking. He pointed out that the idea of running from Abu Dhabi to Mecca came after his first experience when he ran for 327 kilometers within 80 hours from the port of Fujairah to Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi. Where that initiative was the first of its kind in the country, which was dedicated to collect fundraising for the Cancer Care Society “Rahma”.
Dr. Al Suwaidi expressed his happiness with this experience, stressing that his initiative came as a response to the UAE, which gave its citizens the best opportunities for a decent life. He also said that his main message of this initiative was the promote Love and peace.
For his part, Dr. Atatrah said that the ideal readiness, determination and real desire to accomplish the mission are essential elements to achieve the goal and success against difficulties and challenges, expressing his pride in the unique achievement by HE Al Suwaidi.
